Her father was associated with Arizona's first research vineyard through the University of Tucson. John produced his first wine, a Sauvignon Blanc, from this 5000-foot elevation vineyard. He was smitten, not only for his wife but for fine wines and the art of winemaking. After receiving his BA from UC San Diego in biochemistry, John worked as a research immunologist at the prestigious Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation for several years prior to attending California State University Fresno to gain his Masters Degree in Enology. John has been crafting wines for Corbett Canyon since 1985. His time is evenly split between "growing" wines in the vineyard and "adapting" handcrafted winemaking techniques for a larger commercial scale. Clark's winemaking philosophy hinges on crafting wines that offer outstanding flavor for the price. "I'm a modest guy that uses a minimal approach to making wine", said Clark. "Our team isn't selfish in how we make wine, by making it to our tastes. Instead, we take into consideration the consumer's desire for flavorful wines with a soft, smooth finish, a price that won't break the bank, and packaging that signals there's a great wine inside. We take all these needs into consideration to craft a wine that delivers true satisfaction on all fronts." PDF of Winemaker Bio (Winemaker_Bio.pdf 74.9kb)
